English M 1854 Infantry senior officers sword
English Pattern 1854 Infantry senior officers sword. Superb straight fullered bright finished blade. Intact leather washer. Blade is deep etched on both sides with floral motives and the Royal Cypher of Queen Victoria under a crown (VR) Both ricasso show the Star of David, the right one with a brass inlay in a circle, marked: Proved over T. Beautiful gilt brass detachable hilt with a hand guard and two side bars. Brass Royal Cypher VR insert. A sword knot slit near the pommel. Excellent wooden grip covered with very fine smooth fish skin and a complex brass twisted wire winding. There is some light wear only to the cover.
Excellent correct brass scabbard with two loose hanging rings for senior officers. No dents to the scabbard.
Very nice proved example, made between 1837 and 1901 (Victorian era)
