German (Prussia)M 1871/84 bayonet, second model by Weyersberg- Kirschbaum, unit marked. (ABCN411)(K121)(JN79-3)
Mauser M 1871 cal. 11 mm and Mauser M1871-84 rifle. Excellent bright finished blade with a long fuller running to the tip. (= Second model). There are some small stains to the blade only, but no pitting. Blade spine crisp marked: Crown over W over 88 and a German inspection marking. Ricasso with German maker's name: WEYERSBERG - KIRSCHBAUM & Co- SOLINGEN. Excellent wooden grips secured to the blade with rivets. Hilt with a humbback. Crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 17.5 mm. Excellent bright finished pommel with a T-slot is marked with two crisp German inspection markings.
Left side of the crossguard shows regimental marking: 21. R. 10. 13. (= 21th. Infantry Regiment von Borcke {4th. Pommersches.} Home base Thorn. )
Very good + stiff black leather scabbard with clear tooling and bright metal fittings without dents and intact stitches. Top mount is unit marked: 61. R. 3.103.(= 61th. Regiment von der Marwitz { 8th Pommersches.} Home base Thorn ) Throat with two German inspection markings.
A very interesting marked M 1871/84 bayonet. Both Infantry Regiments were from Pommern and both were based in Thorn (Now: Toru-Poland)
