Very good and correct blued steel scabbard with a single German inspection marking on the throat. There are no dents but it is very fine peppered.
Double maker marked German M 1898/05 saw-backed bayonets are not common!
Little is recorded about the firm: J. H. Becker of Solingen. Bayonets with their trademark are rare and not one example has been dated. Their bayonets bear very few inspection stamps. They only made a small production run of saw-back blades in 1916 and early 1917.
Very little is known about the firm L. O. Dietrich & Companie- Altenburg- Thüringen and bayonets with their markings are undated and are quite rare.
It seems that Dietrich were employed in finishing the blade blanks.
