German M 1884/98 bayonet, second model. WWI. Double maker marked: ODEON WERKE-BERLIN + F. HERDER A SN-SOLINGEN (ABCN447)(K JN81-2)(K 140)
Mauser M98 rifle. Very good- bright finished fullered blade with German maker's names: ODEON WERKE over BERLIN and Crossed Keys trademark over F. HERDER A. SN over SOLINGEN, each on both side of the ricasso. Bright blade is peppered / very light pitted on some spots.
Prussian W over date: 18 and Crown over Gothic inspection mark on the blade spine. Excellent bright finished crossguard with a flat upside and a pommel with a T-O slot. There is No inspection marking on the pommel. Excellent- wooden grips and flash guard.
Excellent++ and correct WWI metal scabbard with no dents. Gothic inspection mark on the final.
Double marked WWI M84/98, second model bayonets are scarce. Only a few ODEON WERKE - BERLIN marked and dated 1918 are recorded! (Ref: Antony Carter: German Bayonets, Volume II, Page 182)
