Turkish M 1935 bayonet, modification of a British M 1907 bayonet captured at Gallipoli during WWI (ABCN338-5)(K792)(JN196-1)
Turkish M 1935 Mauser rifle, Kal 7,9 mm. Turkish serial number: 11798 on crossguard. Excellent shortened bright finished fullered British M 1907 leaving a spear point blade. Ricasso is marked: 1907, EFD and the date '11. The reverse ricasso is marked X and a very faint British inspection marking. Bright finished pommel without an oil hole. Crossguard with hooked quillon replaced by a Turkish one to fit the Turkish M 1935 rifle. MRD 15,6 mm. Excellent wooden grips. Screw bolt replaced by steel rivets.
Excellent Turkish made steel replacement scabbard with a round frog stud and a brass chape. No dents.
This Turkish M 1935 Mauser bayonet was an early Enfield made British M 1907 hooked quillion bayonet, very possible captured at Gallopoli during WWI. It was shortened and modified around 1935 and it is a very interesting piece.
