Australian M 1943 Mk I Owen SMG. Excellent parkerized fullered blade, with a little field sharpening to the edged of the blade only. The blade is marked M.A.(= Munitions Australia- Orange Arsenal), dated: '53, and X in two rows on ricasso. Reverse side is marked /I\ 0/I\1 and'54.(?) Excellent parkerised T-slot pommel and crossguard with muzzle ring. MRD 16,5 mm. Excellent Australian type wooden grips both marked SLAZ '52. Oil hole in pommel.
Excellent Australian brown leather scabbard with all stitches in tact, a round frog stud and no dents to the grey parkerised and both marked OA top mount and chape. Leather scabbard body is marked MA53 along the seam and a large W.
Comes with an excellent and well marked khaki frog : REM ADU 1960, over CN / 0997
Rare bayonet. During WWII there were only 19.000 Australian M 1943 Owen SMG produced.This one is made and used in the time frame of the Korean war.
