Dutch Cavalry Officer's sword M 1876 by Frans Pauwels, 's Gravenhage. (JP Page 89-145)

"Nederlands Cavalerie Officierssabel M 1876. Lange sabel No.2./ Dutch Cavalry officers sword M 1876. No.2. Excellent+ curved fullered bright finished blade. Intact black leather washer. Dutch retailers name and residence: FRANS PAUWELS over 's GRAVENHAGE (= Frans Pauwels, Hoofdstraat, Den Haag 1874-1925) in a box on the blade side. The Dutch proof mark: YZERHOUWER in a scroll on the reverse. Excellent bright finished plated steel hilt, plated steel hand guard with knuckle bow, three side bars and a forward swept quillon.
Beautiful wooden grip, covered with ray skin and a complete twisted silver wire winding.

Total length: 94 cm. Width at the ricasso: 2.5 cm. 
Beautiful example! Missing its steel scabbard. Hence the price!

This Dutch cavalry officers sword was made around 1900.
As so many Dutch military sword models, this model was also used by leading officers of the Police.
