The concept for this Dutch M 1852 model was doubtless the Russian M 1826 Infantry officers sword!
This Home Guard officers model differs from the M 1852 infantry officers sword in its finish only. The hilt of the M 1852 Home Guard model is always in Berlin-Silver, the Infantry model is finished in brass.
Given the way the Dutch proof mark is written: EISENHAUER and not the later EYZENHOUER or even more later: YZERHOUWER and the double loose hanging rings ( In 1888 the lower ring was obsolete ), this particular sword was made around 1855.
A very early M 1852 Home guard officers sword in an Excellent condition. The Dutch Home Guard was dissolved in 1901.
Note: The German makers trademark: Crown over a Z in a shield was registered by the company of Herman Wilhelm Lang- Solingen. 1851-1866. CLEMEN & JUNG-SOLINGEN took over the trade mark in 1898)
