Dutch municipal police officers short sword, around 1900 by Frans Pauwels-'s Gravenhage.(JP. Page 102- 177-l)

"Gemeente Politie sabel, rond 1900". / Dutch municipal police short sword around 1900. Rack number: 178  9 on the crossguard facing the blade. Very good+ straight bright finished fullered blade. The blade shows some areas of very fine peppering and some light pitting near the tip only. Dutch retailers name and residence in two lines on the ricasso: FRANS PAUWELS -'s GRAVENHAGE.  Excellent plated hilt with P- shaped knuckle guard and very good black composite ribbed wooden grip with 11 ribs. Hilt with working locking device to keep the sword into the scabbard. Crossguard with swept forward quillon. 
Excellent black leather scabbard with clear tooling and plated fittings showing some user spurs. All stitches in tact.  Acorn frog stud. 

This Dutch Municipal Police officer sword models  were used from 1850 - 1950 in the main towns of the Netherlands. The were intensively used and you may expect user spurs on these swords. In 1966 the tips were official blunted. This one still has a pointed blade and was made around 1900. This particular example was used by the police corps of the Hague.
