Early Dutch Marine boarding sword M 1818 No.2 (JP 74-3)

"Nederlands scheepssabel No.2, M 1818 "/ Dutch M 1818 Marine boarding sword No.2. Excellent- bright finished curved fullered very heavy blade. The blade shows stains and some user spurs, but absolutely no pitting. Leather washer intact.
Excellent one piece cast brass hilt with a single hand guard and a guillon with a short ball shaped finial. Ribbed grip.  The back of is hilt shows a rack number: 265 and ZV wich are maybe the initials of the name of a Dutch Navy vessel. 
Excellent- and correct black leather scabbard with characteristic brass fittings. Stitching intact. Typical early type brass top fitting and brass chape with two horizontal lines. The chape shows some small indentations only

The Dutch  M 1818 No.2 Marine boarding sword was a Dutch assembled M 1803 French briquet. It differs from the Dutch M 1819 infantry short sword in details. It has a curved fullered heavy blade and not a plain straight blade. There is no acorn final on the guillon.
Is was used from 1818 till 1880. This is the early version with a more heavy blade and a characteristic scabbard fittings. Later types are less heavy and have a different scabbard more similar like the M 1819 infantry scabbard.
After 1832 this model was also used by the Belgian Customs.

These are quite rare and hard to find.  Special with its scabbard.
