Dutch Infantry officers sword M 1912, Ray skin grip by Horster. (JP100-171)
"Nederlands infanterie officiers sabel M 1912 -Wandelsabel-" / Dutch M 1912 Infantry officers sword. VGC+ bright finished slightly curved fullered blade. German makers logo: E.& F. Hörster - Solingen on the ricaso, (Trademark was used from 1914 on) covered by the lanquet and the Dutch proofmark: YZERHOUWER in a scroll on the right blade side. Blade shows field sharpening marks on the edge and tip. Leather washer is intact. Excellent brass hilt with lion head and knuckle bowl. Crossguard with forward swept quillon with puma head. Excellent and scarce hilt variation. The wooden grip is covered by beautiful grey ray skin and a intact twisted brass wire winding.
Excellent- polished steel scabbard. Some minor dents to the last portion of the scabbard close to the drag. Single loose hanging ring.
Length: 100 cm. Width at the ricasso: 2,1 cm
The M 1912 infantry officers sword is in use from 1912 on to present day. This is a scarce hilt variation made by Hōrster - Solingen around 1930. These were special popular by officers of the KNIL (Dutch Royal Dutch Indies Army - Indonesia) and are less common.
The blade needs some attention only, hence the price.
