Dutch early Naval officers sword M 1882 Very early model by W. VERVLOET & ZOON. 's GRAVENHAGE.(JP 99-170)

Nederlands Marine officierssabel M 1882 "Sabel luitenant ter zee" Vroeg model/ Dutch early M 1882  Naval Officers sword.
Fantastic bright finished heavy pipe back blade, very deep etched in panels on both sides and on the blade spine. The panels have different motives. One panel shows a Man O'war and a fouled anchor and the other panel shows a steamer and a fouled anchor. Blade spine with a Dutch crisp retailers name: W. VERVLOET & ZOON, 's GRAVENHAGE  in a scroll. (= Willem Vervloet and Son, The Hague. 1844-1930)
Blade is marked with the Dutch quality proof mark:  YZERHOUWER in a scroll on the other side and the German makers trademark: Knight helmet over WKC (= Weyersberg & Kirschbaum -Solingen) on the reverse side. (This logo was used from 1870 - 1936).
Intact brown leather washer. Beautiful large brass lion head pommel and a hilt with an ivory ribbed grip. The brass hand guard pierced with a fouled anchor under a crown and floral motives. The white ribbed ivory grip is in an Excellent+ condition and has an intact brass wire winding. 

A brass mounted black leather scabbard with clear tooling in an Excellent+ condition, fixed to the blade by brass staples.  All stitches and staples intact and no dents to the brass fittings.

This model was introduced in 1882 and is still in service, but in a more modern configuration, by Dutch Naval officers and Senior NCO's. This is a very early one with a beautiful very deep etched blade and an ivory grip.
This early example was made around 1890. 

These early examples are really hard to find, special in this condition.
