"Nederlands Artillery Officierssabel M 1876/95. Lange sabel No. 2 / Dutch Artillery officers sword M 1876/95 No.2. Excellent- curved bright finished, now somewhat graying, fullered slim blade. Intact leather washer. The left ricasso with the, rare for this model, German makers trademark of Alexander Coppel- Sollingen: Scale mark. Excellent- bright finished steel hilt and a steel hand guard with a knuckle bow, three side bars and a forward swept quillon.
Excellent wooden grip, covered with ray skin and a intact and complex beautiful twisted brass wire winding.
Excellent+ bright finished steel dents free scabbard with a single loose hanging ring only. A small repaered defect near the drag only.
Total length: 98 cm. Width at the ricasso: 2,4 cm!.
This Dutch M 1876/95 No. 2. Artillery officers sword differs from the M1876 No.1. Cavalry officers sword by its longer and more slim blade. It was in 1895 also adopted by the KNIL. (=Dutch East India Army)
