French M 1833 Naval boarding cutlass by Chatellerault 1840.
French M 1833 Naval boarding cutlass. Excellent bright finished fullered blade. Some fine stains to the blade edge only. Red fabrik washer. Two French controle markings on the ricasso: Star over W and G, both in a circle. Blade spine is marked: Manuf're. Rl'e de Chatellerault, 9 bre. 1840. ( = Made at the Royal factory of Chatellerault on October 9th. 1840). Clear large anchor markings on both sides of the blade. Large and heavy blackened hilt with a large closed bowl guard and a steel grip. French inspector marking: Star over N in a circle on the quillon.
No scabbard.
