Brazilian M 1889 Cavalry Troopers sword (No. Ref.)
Brazilian M 1889 Cavalry troopers sword. Excellent bright finished long fullered blade. Makers logo: AEC in an triangle on the ricasso over MARCA RIGISTRADA.
Two piece ribbed brass grips secured to the blade tang by two blued screw bolts. Large parkerized bowl guard with a sword knot slit and a small quillon with a round final. Guard with a large pressed and beautiful Brazilian Coat of Arms, marked; ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRAZIL,15 DE NOV., DE 1889
Excellent blackened steel scabbard with a single loose hanging ring. A loop for saddle mounting is later (crudely) added to the reverse side. Scabbard body shows a couple of very small dent /storage marks only.
