"Belgische M 1845 militaire muzikanten degen " / Belgian M 1845 Military Bandsman spadroon. Excellent bright finished plain double edged blade. Red felt washer. Excellent brass hilt with a fixed clam shell guard, decorated with flower motives, drums, trumpets, bugelhorns and other instruments and a large lyre in the centre. Crossguard with a straight quillon. Pommel with helmet woman's head (Athena) and a hand guard with a Belgian lion head. Excellent one piece checkered ebony wooden grip showing a hairline crack on both sides only.
Excellent glossy black painted steel infantry officers scabbard with a single loos hanging ring. No dents.

Total length: 94 cm. Width at the ricasso: 2,0 cm. 

Very attractive Belgian bandsman sword with a strong French Second Empire influenze.
