Description

"Infanterie sabel No.1 (M 1807)" Dutch Infantry troopers short sword No.1 (M 1807) Superb bright finished curved blade, with a very narrow fuller close to the blade spine, running to the tip. Red felt replacement washer intact.  Excellent one piece cast brass hilt with a single D shaped hand guard and a short forward guillon with a final. Ribbed grip. 9 ribs. Faint markings on the brass grip. The hilt shows some user spurs and an old repair only.
It is missing its black leather scabbard with brass fittings.
Total length: ca. 75,5 cm. Width at the ricasso: 3,2 cm

The M 1807 No. 1 Dutch infantry troopers short sword was originally a Dutch designed sword. It was only used by a few infantry regiments (Including the Jager Regiments) and it was replaced by the Dutch infantry troopers short sword M 1819. The model saw service during the Napoleonic wars (Quatre-Bras / Waterloo 1815) and the Belgium campaign (10-daagse Veldtocht 1831and is quite rare!

Very rare Dutch early infantry troopers sword. Not many were ever produced. Hard to find in this exceptional good condition!
