Description

"Nederlands Burgerwacht sabel. Ca. 1795.  Bataafse Republiek en het Koninkrijk Holland"/ Dutch Home Guard short sword. Around 1800 in the Batavian Republic/Kingdom of Holland" Very good+ bright finished plain blade. Blade shows user spurs and stains only. Washer intact. Excellent brass hilt with a single knuckle bowl and a side bar, screwed to the pommel of the hilt. Short straight qullion with round finial. Excellent+ wooden grip covered with shark skin and an intact and complex red copper wire winding.
Comes with its Excellent- tooled black leather scabbard with brass mounts. There is a block number: No.on the top mount. All stitches intact and no serieus dents to the fittings. 

Very rare Home guard short sword from the time The Netherlands were under supervision of the French Empire of Napoleon Bonaparte and called "The Batavian Republic". (1795 -1806) and later when it became "Het Koninkrijk Holland" (The Kingdom of Holland), the reign of King Louis Bonaparte, the younger brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. (1806 til 1810).

Total length: 61 cm. Width at the ricasso: 2,9 cm.

Extremely rare early sword. Hard to find!
