Dutch M 1819 No.2 infantry troopers short sword. (JP 74-108)

Nederlands M 1819 No.2  Infanterie manschapssabel. / Dutch M 1819 No.2 Infantry troopers short sword. Very good bright finished plain blade showing fine peppering to moderate pitting only. Excellent+ one piece cast brass hilt with a steel pin in the ribbed grip. Single hand guard and a short guillon with an achorn shaped finial. Quillon with a tiny Dutch inspection marking: Crown over L. Top of the grip is unit marked: 2. over C.  and crossgard is faint dated 1823. Hand guard is crisp marked with a Dutch inspection marking: Crown over JS.
No scabbard. 

The M 1819 No. 2 infantry short sword was a Dutch produced edged weapon with clear influence of the French M 1801 briquet.  

Total Length: 71,5 cm,  Blade length: 59 cm. Width at the ricasso 3,2 cm.
