Description

 

Dutch M 1854 Naval musket. Serial number: B 1248 on the crossguard. Excellent bright finished fullered yatagan blade. German makers trade mark: P.D.L. in an oval (= Paul D. Luneschloss - Solingen) and Dutch inspection mark on the ricasso. The reverse ricasso is dated: 1860 and marked with a Dutch inspection marking in a circle and a large script L. 
Excellent very large and heavy one piece brass hilt and crossguard. Pommel is marked Crown over C and IT. Ribbed grip and two brass quillons with round finials. Mortise slot to the left side of the grip. Crossguard is marked with serial number B 1248 -  107  - and date: 1861 and on the reverse side are two Dutch inspection markings : Crown over B and Crown over C
Superb black leather scabbard with clear tooling. All stitches intact and two Dutch inspection markings to the leather body. Brass top mount with no dents and round frog stud. Throat is numbered: 6. "Dutch style" brass internal chape.

An extremely rare and impressive Dutch naval bayonet by a rare maker, with its even more rare scabbard in an Excellent+ condition!.
Scabbards are rarely seen!
No more than 2.000 were ever produced.
