Imperial German (Prussian) M 1860 Dreyse Fusilier short rifle. Serial number 7843 on the grip back near the mortise slot. Superb bright finished heavy pipe back blade. German maker's trademark: W. CLAUBERG -SOLINGEN on the ricasso and a capital script G. (= Quality control mark: Gußstahl) Reverse side is marked Crown over W over 62 (= Prussia, King Wilhelm I, dated 1862) and Crown over a Gothic inspection marking. Excellent brass grip with 19 ribs on the right side and an external spring fixed with a screw on the left side. External spring numbered: 379. Blade tang with two very crisp inspection markings near the muzzle ring.
Crossguard is unit marked: E.C. 53 (= 53e Ersatz Company?) and marked with another Crown over W, 62, a Crown over Gothic P inspection mark facing the blade.
Excellent+ black leather scabbard with clear tooling and brass fittings. Brass frog stud. Fittings are both marked with German inspection markings. All stitches intact and no dents to te fittings.
Comes with its Excellent genuine, early and super rare large black leather M 1860 belt frog with no rivets as found. Very faint marked on the reverse side.
Super rare bayonet! Many of the M 1860 fusilier bayonets were bushed later to 17. 2 mm and used with the M 1871 Jägerbuchse of the German artillery. This one still has the original MRD of 21.3 mm.!
