Mauser M71 rifle/Mauser M71/84 rifle / Werder M1869 Rifle. Excellent bright finished fullered blade (light field sharpening only.) with German makers name and residence: ALEX. COPPEL-SOLINGEN on the ricasso. Blade spine is very crisp Prussian marked and dated: Crown over W over 74 over a German inspection marking. Excellent brass grip with blued external spring. Pommel with two German Inspection markings. Bright finished steel crossguard with quillon and muzzle ring. MRD 17,4 mm. Crossgard shows some light stains on one side only. Crossguard is unit marked: 19. R. E. 3.112 (=19 Infantry Ersatz Regiment. 3 Battalion, rifle Nb. 112.(= 19 Infantry Ersatz Regiment von Courbière (2 Posensches) Home base: Görlitz and Laubahn. )
Very good and correct rare black painted steel scabbard. No dents, but light pitted all over.
Imperial M 1871 infantry bayonet. The rare steel scabbard was produced only during WWI, from 1914 till 1918 as a replacement (Ersatz) . These are pretty hard to find.
