German modified Brazilian M 1908 bayonet. (Roy Williams 698-699-700)
German Mauser M 1898 rifle. Excellent bright finished fullered blade, ricasso with German makers name: SIMSON & Co. over SUHL. No Brazilian blade spine marking. Bright finished pommel with T-O slot. Length of the mortise slot: 4,2 cm Bright finished crossguard. Muzzle ring removed and quillon shortened. Modification of the bar attachment groove by making the groove more round to fit the M 1898 rifle
Excellent black leather scabbard with brass fittings. User spurs, but no serieus dents to the fittings. Stitches intact.
German WWI modification of a Brazilian M 1908 Mauser bayonet. According to Roy Williams, this is an extremely rare altered bayonet , used by German/Bavarian troops during WWI. (Ref: Roy Williams: The Collectors Book of German bayonets, Part 2, page 398, 399, 400, 401).
