Description
German Mauser M 1898 Rifle and Carbine. M 98/05. Second type bayonet. Superb bright finished fullered "Butcher" blade. Very crisp German makers names: WEYERSBERG- KIRSCHBAUM- & CIE- SOLINGEN in four lines on the ricasso. Prussian cypher; Crown over W over date: 17 with a German inspection marking on the blade spine.
Excellent bright finished pommel, flash guard, crossguard and quillon. Two German inspection markings on pommel. Excellent ribbed wooden grips with an oil hole. T-O slot in pommel. Flash guards with no serieus dents.
Very good blackened scabbard showing a couple of small dents only. Throat is marked with two German inspection markings.
