German M 1871 Infanterie "Extra Seitengewehr" by W.K.&.C. Unit marked!. (ABCN 1221)(K0)(JN80-1)
German M 1871 Infanterie "Extra Seitengewehr"/"Walking Out" side arm". Not a bayonet!. Excellent bright finished plain blade with a very nice weak "rolled on" etching. Etching shows military trophees and a Prussian eagle. Red felt washer intact. German maker's trademark: Kings head and Knight helmet over W.K. & C (= Weyersberg and Kirschbaum -Solingen) crisp on the left ricasso. Very nice brass grip with a bright polished steel crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 15 mm and a forward and backward swept quillon. The crossguard is very crisp unit marked: 14. T. H. 2.11. (=Train-Batallion). Grip with no mortise slot but there is a not working blued external spring. Left side of the grip is smooth and the right side shows 16 ribs.
Excellent black leather scabbard with clear tooling and all stitches intact. Brass top mount and chape with final.
These side arms were privately purchased by enlisted man and infantry cadetten for "Walking Out" off duty.
