German M 1871 Feldartillery "Extra Seitengewehr"by Carl Eickhorn-Solingen. (ABCN1199)(K0)(JN80-1)
German M 1871 Feldartillery extra Seitengewehr, not a bayonet!. Excellent bright finished plain blade with no etching. German maker's trade mark: Two sitting squirrels-back to back (= Carl Eickhorn-Solingen) crisp on the left ricasso. Very nice brass grip with two brass quillons, one swept forward and one swept backward. No muzzle ring. Grip with no mortise slot nor an external spring. Left side of the grip is smooth and the right side shows 18 ribs.
Excellent black leather scabbard with tooling and all stitches intact. Brass top mount and chape with final.
These side arms were privately purchased by enlisted man and infantry kadeten for "Walking Out" off duty. Most show "rolled on etching" on the blade, this one is bright finished only. It is the rarer Feldartillery version with no external spring.
