French M 1892 Mannlicher Bertier bayonet. Second modified model. (ABCN875-3)(K273)(JN74-3)
Mannlicher Berthier carbine M 1892, M 1892/17 and M 1916. Serial number F 5930 on crossguard. Second model. Excellent bright finished fullered blade with a typical V-form in the spine running all the way to the tip. Two French inspection markings in circles on the ricasso. Excellent bright finished pommel and crossguard with a shortened quillon. Long extended muzzle ring. MRD 13 mm. Excellent black composition grips affixed to the blade tang by two small steel pins. On the left side there is some usual little damage around the rivet only.
Very good blackened dents free steel scabbard with two French inspection markings.
The Second model was adopted shortly before the outbreak of WWI. It differs with the First model by its extended muzzle ring.
From 1915 onward all M1892 had to be modified by shortening the quillon and replacing the composition grips by wooden grips. Many remained unaltered or were only converted in one or two aspacts.
