Chassepot M 1866 rifle. Serial number: X 13736 Matching! on crossguard. Excellent fullered bright finished yataghan blade. Ricasso is marked: 4. Very crisp marking: Mr'" Imp"ale de Chatt. "8bre" 1866.(=Made at the Imperial arsenal of Chatellerault, October 1866. ( Pre serial! )  on the blade spine. Excellent brass grip with blued external spring. Steel rivets are in a different position compared to later produced bayonets. Excellent bright finished crossguard with guillion and muzzle ring MRD: 17,5 mm. Four crisp French inspection markings on the quillon.
Excellent correct bright finished metal scabbard with no dents and a matching serial number: X 13736 . Another serial number is canceled 4787
