English M 1907 bayonet by MOLE.(ABC N1027-1) (JN57-3)(K318)
British Lee Enfield (SMLE) No7 rifle. Second pattern with oil hole in pommel. Superb bright finished fullered blade. First 2 cm blackened. Ricasso is marked: Crown over GR over 1907 over date: 12-'14 ('14 is hard to read) and the crisp English maker's trademark: MOLE (= Robert Mole & Son, Gravile Street, Birmingham). Broad arrow, bend tests mark: X and a Birmingham inspection marking: Crown over M3 over B, Two more inspection markings and and another issue date: '21 on the reverse side on the ricasso. Bright finished pommel and crossguard. Excellent walnut grips.
Excellent black leather scabbard. Top mount with a round frog stud. Blued fittings with no dents, all stitches intact.
MOLE and VICKERS are the rarer makers of the M 1907 bayonet. MOLE was the 2e lowest with a production of 60.000 bayonets only. Made from 1908-1911 and from 1914-1915 only
Very nice bayonet. This particular one is completely left in the white!
