According to Ian Skennerton the Pattern 1914 (no.3) rifle and its bayonet known as the No.3 Mk I, were issued in very a limited quantity in Australia during WWII and are quite rare!. The official modification of sharpening a portion of the back edge to the tip, creating a false edge was introduced in 1944. In the same period this example must have been arsenal refurbished and brought to Australian WWII standards: All steel parts blackened and a browned scabbard.
