US/ Danish M 1953-17 bayonet(ABCN1042)(K0)(JN0)
US M 1917 rifle. No serial number. Excellent WWII parkerized fullered blade with US maker's name: Remington in a circle and 1917 on the ricasso. First 2.5 cm are blackened .US flaming bomb, X mark and Eagle head over 25 on reverse side. Excellent+ dark blued pommel and crossguard. Excellent ++ walnut wooden gips with two notches fixed to the blade tang by screw bolts. NATO green painted leather scabbard is marked GF in an oval to the mounts. Also the fittings are painted NATO green.
A very complex Danish design scabbard throat with belt hook is added on top of the existing throat of a former US Leather tab scabbard, forming a double throat.
This Danish belt hook system differs completely from the US belt hook system.
After WWII, in 1953, 50.000 English P 13 and US M 17 rifles with refurbished bayonets were supplied to Denmark by the USA.
These bayonets with their very interesting altered scabbards are seldom seen.
