Russian Imperial M 1834 Tesak. ( Sawback pioneer short sword.) Serial number 18 on ricasso. Fantastic and impressive heavy bright finished fullered sawback blade, slightly bending towards a swollen tip. Sawback with a large number of small teeth. Double edged blade tip. The ricasso is marked : B.K. and A. C. Ribbed one piece casted brass hilt with two symmetric quillons with round finials. Crossguard is marked with the date of production: 1834
Excellent wooden scabbard covered with black leather. Brass top mount with round frogstud is marked on both sides: q in a circle. Brass chape with a round finial. All stitches intact, no dents to the top mount and some tiny dents on one side of the chape only.
Very impressive are extremely rare Russian Imperial M 1834 Tesak. They were adopted in March 1834 and used til 1855 only. It played an important rule in the Crimean wars.
Beautiful example, seldom found in this condition!
