Dutch infantry NCO short sword M 1859/ No.3. with scabbard. (JP83-128)

"Nederlands Infanterie Onderofficierssabel M 1859. Korte sabel No. 3." / Dutch Infantry NCO short sword M 1859, No.3.  Crossed out serial number: 4750 on the crossguard and a date: 1880 on the reverse side. Excellent curved bright finished plain blade. Dutch inspection marking: Crown over L on the ricasso.Excellent+ one piece massive cast brass hilt and crossguard. The ribbed grip has a typical Dutch steel rivet in the center of the grip. Crossguard with a forward and a backward swept quillon. Forward swept quillon with an acorn final. Dutch Crown marking on quillon.
Excellent black leather covered zinc scabbard with a brass internal chape and a retaining strap. All stitches intact. 
Comes with its genuine and rare black leather sword frog with a brass buckle and a correct red wool NCO sword knot on a black cord.

These M 1859 NCO short swords are altered M 1819 No.2 Infantry troopers swords. Blade and knuckle guard were modified in 1859.
