Pallasch type."/ Dutch Mounted Train officers sword / Mounted Artillery officers sword M 1895 Pallasch type. No.4. Excellent- bright finished straight Pallasch type T- form blade with the Dutch retailers name and residence; FRANS POUWELS- 's GRAVENHAGE crisp on the blade spine. There are a few small patches with very light pitting to the blade only. Leather washer intact. Very heavy detachable straight bright finished steel hilt with a flower motives engraved pierced solid bowl guard with 7 side bars. Round ribbed hard black rubber grip, complete with an intact silver wire winding.
Excellent+ V-shaped steel scabbard with one loose hanging ring and no dents.
Very rare and impressive heavy experimental Dutch officers sword intended for use by mounted Train officers, but it was also used by mounted Artillery officers in piece time.
(Note: Trein=Train=Tros means Division responsable for the transportation of war equipment in the front line. (Hospital tents, field kitchens, butcheries, bakeries, ammunition etc.) A very dangerous job!".)
Experimental/trials sword, made in a very small number only!
Possible one of the hardest to find Dutch swords.
