Nederlands Officiers sabel van de Lichte Cavalerie (LC) M 1813. Engels model. / Dutch Light Cavalry (LC) Officers sword. M 1813, English Patern. Superb curved bright finished fullered blade with the German makers name: C. R. Kirschbaum on the one side and Solingen (= Carl Reinhard Kirschbaum 1818 - 1862) on the reverse side of the ricasso covered by the quillons. The Dutch retailers name: A. Sibert te Amsterdam in three lines on the ricasso. The reverse side is marked with the Dutch proofmark: Eisenhau. (in the German language.) Intact leather washer.
Excellent bright finished Berlin -Silver hilt with stirrup hand guard and forward swept quillon. Excellent ribbed wooden grip covered with black leather and a silver wire winding.
Crossguard with languets on both sides. No ears on the back of the hilt.
Excellent+ Berlin -Silver scabbard with two loose hanging rings. A few small dents close to the drag only.
Comes with its Excellent and genuine M 1854 Dutch officers sword knot as found. Silver acorn with a silver stam, a black cord and an orange core.
Total length: 93,5 cm. Width at the ricasso: 3 cm.
This is the officers version of the famous "Blucher type"sword. Lighter and more luxery. According to the website of het Nederlands National Militair Museum, this was a Special Order model (Buitenmodel) for Infantry officers of the KNIL between 1850-1899.
Very nice and very rare example from an Amsterdam retailer.
