German made US M1 bayonet with smooth wooden grips. .(ABCN379)(K0)(JN0)
US M1 Garand rifle. Serial number: B 2588 on the crossguard. Excellent + dark parkerized fullered blade with a false edge. No maker markings to the ricasso of the blade. Blade shows user spurs and fine field sharpening only. Excellent+ parkerized hilt with T slot in pommel. Excellent+ smooth wooden grips secured to the blade tang by one single screw. Crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 15.7 mm and a short straight quillon.
Excellent US type olive green plastic scabbard with no markings and a brass belt hooks. Hole for a lace in the tip.
These Garand bayonets were made in the 50ties by E.F. Hörster-Germany to be used by the Bundeswehr on their M1 rifles donated by the US for the post-war rearmament project.
The variation with the smooth wooden grip is quite scarce!
