German made M 1888 Commission rifle. 8 mm. No serial number. Minty bright finished double edged blade with no markings. Excellent M 1888 Austrian style blued pommel and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 17.5 mm. Pommel with T-slot. No rivet in the crossguard. Excellent walnut wooden grips secured with 2 rivets to the blade tang.
No scabbard.
This is a very well made bayonet. Made by Weyersberg & Kirschbaum in Solingen for export to Siam in 1907, but many did not make it to Siam and were issued to German Landsturm troops in 1914 as an Ersatz bayonet for the German M 1888 Commission rifle. (Ref. : Anthony Carter. CA 149).

A similar course made Chinese example exist for the Chinese M 1888 rifle. These can be told by a single rivet in the crossguard.
