Mauser M71 rifle/Mauser M71/84 rifle / Werder M1869 Rifle. Excellent- bright finished fullered blade with some patches of light pitting to the blade only. German makers name and residence: GEBR. WEYERSBERG-SOLINGEN on the ricasso. Blade spine is crisp Prussian marked and dated: Crown over W over '73 over a German inspection marking. Excellent brass grip with external spring. Pommel with a single German Inspection markings. Excellent bright finished steel crossguard with quillon and muzzle ring. MRD 17,4 mm. Crossguard is unit marked: 28. R. 5. 170. (= 28 Infantry Regiment Von Goeben, 5th Batallion, rifle: 170. Home base: Ehrenbreidstein, Coblenz) There is a very crisp German inspection marking and a 4 on the crossguard facing the blade.
Very good stiff black leather scabbard with brass fittings. No serieus dents to the marked fittings and all stitches intact. Top mount is unit marked: 81. R. 11. 207. (=81th Infantry Regiment Landgraf Friedrich I von Hesse-Cassel, 11th Batallion, rifle: 207. Home base: Frankfurt a. M. ) and the throat and both fittings show German inspection markings
