German M1898-05 Ersatz bayonet (ABCN745-4)(K864)(JN90-4)( Anthony Carter EB44)

German Mauser M 1898 Rifle and Carbine.  M 98/05. Ersatz bayonet. Excellent- bright finished fullered crudely made blade. Model with narrow short fullers, the length and width are not identical on both sides. Blade shows a rough finish all over with clear file strokes. (Ref. Anthony Carter:  AC44) Crown over a Gothic inspection marking crisp on the blade spine. Long false edge.
Excellent fieldgrey painted two part all steel hilt with a ribbed grip. Oil hole in grip and two rivets. Bright finished grossguard and a short forward swept quillon. A single diameter open muzzle ring. T-O slot in pommel. 
Excellent- fieldgray over black painted pressed steel ersatz scabbard. Steel top mount fixed to a leather imitating sheet steel body decorative lines.  A small dent only close to the repaired tip of the scabbard. The weak ferrule is missing as often seen.
