Mauser M98 rifle. Excellent bright finished fullered blade with crisp very rare German maker's name : E. SIEPMANN & co. - SOLINGEN on the ricasso.
Prussian W over date: 17 and Gothic inspection mark on the blade spine. Excellent bright finished crossguard and pommel with T-O slot and Gothic inspection marking. Excellent light wood grips. Hilt with excellent dents free flash guard.
Correct blued WWI metal scabbard with serial number 1503 is showing some truly battle damage to the reverse side. Gothic inspection mark on the final.
Ernst Siepmann & Co. of Solingen is an extremely rare maker of the second model M 84/98 bayonet. This company only made this bayonet in 1917. Only a few are known.
