Description
Chassepot M 1866 rifle. Serial number: D 26845 on crossguard. Excellent fullered bright finished yataghan blade marked: M re Imp ále ...... (only readable), on the blade spine. Two crisp French inspection markings on the right ricasso. Excellent brass grip with blued external spring. Excellent bright finished crossguard with guillion and muzzle ring MRD: 17,5 mm. Three crisp French inspection markings on the quillon.
No scabbard.
Chassepot bayonets marked: M re Imp'ale (= Manufacture Imperiale) are all made between 1867 and 1870
