Belgian M 1916 shortened infantry bayonet. Matching Unit marking: 1 Ch. (ABCN1091-4)(K337)(JN18-2)

Belgian M 1889 FN Mauser rifle and carbine. First model: 1916.  Unit marking: 112. 1 Ch. ( 1. Regiment Chasseurs (= (= First Ardennes Hunters Regiment, rifle 112, rifle 112) on the crossguard. Matching!. Excellent+ dark blued double edged shortened fish bone blade with central rib and Belgian inspection mark B on the ricasso. Excellent bright finished pommel and crossguard with a muzzle ring. MRD 17.4 mm. Catch in the pommel is marked :C in a circle. Excellent wooden grips secured with screws and washers to the blade tang. Excellent and correct shortened deep blued Belgian scabbard with a matching Unit marking on the almond frog stud: 112. 1.Ch. No serious dents to the scabbard. 

Early and scarce shortened M 1916 bayonet. The hilt is welded together and not made out of one piece of steel which was the second model made in 1917. (M1916/17). The M 1916 and M 1916/17 were made during The Great War in France by Belgium sword makers.

After WWI and before WWII a great many were bushed to a MRD of 15,4 mm. (M 1916/35) to fit a FN Mauser M 1935 rifle /carbine. 
This one not. It was later shortened, blade blackened and used in Congo on M 1889 rifles and carbines. (PF use)
