US M 1917 bayonet by REMINGTON, by mistake 1918 marked. (ABCN1041)(K322)(JN223-3)
US.30 rifle. U.S. ENFIELD/EDDYSTONE. Lee Enfield/ Eddystone M1917 rifle. Excellent parkerized fullered blade with US makers trade mark: REMINGTON in a circle and 1918(!) very crisp on ricasso. First two cm are blackened. Left side of the blade and near the tip shows a small spot of light corrosion only. On the reverse side US, Flaming Bomb and an American inspection marking: Eagle head over 11. Excelent+ blackened blued pommel with an oil hole and crossguard. Muzzle ring MRD 15,5 mm. Excellent walnut wooden grips with two nuts secured to the blade tang by two screw bolts.
Excellent US black leather scabbard with all stitches intact. Olive drab painted top mount is RE (=Remington) marked. Leather body is marked: RE over '16 and '23, /I\ and a large W. Olive chape fog stud and no rivets in the top mount. No dents to the olive drab painted fittings.
This particular US M 1917 bayonet was marked by mistake: 1918 and not 1917! Odd bayonet, not very common.
