"Nederlands infanterie Hoofd- en Opperofficier's sabel M 1852 " / Dutch Infantry Field and General officers sword M 1852. Excellent bright finished curved fullered wide blade with a rare Dutch retailers name: H. d. H. & Z. in a scroll on the ricasso and its residence: à UTRECHT in a scrol on the reverse side. (= Hendricus de Heus & Zoon - Utrecht. 1832-1868. )The blade is beautiful deep etched on both sides and blade spine. Both sides show different etchings. Floral motives, crossed guns, a knight helmet, a harnas with helmet, banners and military throphees.
Beautiful and excellent detachable M 1852 gilt brass hilt with a cast gilt brass pommel and an one piece black horn grip, with a twisted silver wire winding. Gilt brass hand guard with side bar. Crossguard with forward swept guillon.
Much of the gilt is still present and not polished off as usual.
Excellent Berlin-silver scabbard with two loose hanging rings. No dents.
This is a very rare M 1852 etched Infantry sword for Field and General officers only. (Ref. Collection Dutch Army museum.) Made between 1852 and 1868.
