Norwegian M 1860 Lund/ M 1867 Remington bayonet (ABC N 1881-2)(K 482)(JN 150-2)
Norwegian Lund chamber loader rifle M 1860 and M 1867 Remington rolling block rifle. Low serial number: 1494 on ricasso. Very good bright finished long fullered yatagan blade with serial number on ricasso and Crown over K (=Kongsberg Arsenal) and inspection markings; Gothic sign on the reverse side. Small spots of surface pitting and peppering on both sides of the blade including the blade tang.
Excellent brass pommel with a T-slot and a short external spring. Lanyard hole in top. Brass crossguard with swept forward quillon and muzzle ring with cock comb; MRD 18,5 mm. Excellent wooden grips, pinned to the blade tang by four rivets.
No scabbard.
Impressive scarce bayonet in a Very good condition.
The Kongsberg arsenal in Norway only made 55.380 M 1860 bayonets between 1870 and 1883. Be course the serial numbers overlap, it is not known which serial numbered bayonet was made for the M 1860 Lund rifle and which one was made for the Remington m 1867.
Brown leather scabbards are very rare.
