"Garde Jager officier's sabel M 1852"./ Dutch Jaeger guard officers sword M 1852. Minty curved fullered bright blade with a beautiful etching on both sides. The blade has the typical Jaeger blade tip. German makers trade mark: Crowned Kings head and Knight helmet over W.K.&C. (= Weyersberg & Kirschbaum en Co- Solingen ) and rare Dutch retailers name and residence in three lines in a box on the right blade side: N.V. Officieren Kleermakerij over "De Eendracht" over Breda. Intact original red felt washer.
Blade is beautiful and deep etched on both sides with hunter's trophies, hunting rifles, hunting horns, gun dogs and follicants. Blade spine is nicely etched: REGIMENT GRENADIERS EN JAGERS .
Excellent gilt hilt with cast gilt brass flat pommel (no nut on top). The grip is unusual more straight dan normal and rather narrow. Excellent one piece dark brown ribbed horn grip with no wire winding. Superb gilt brass straight hand guard with sa small side bar. Crossguard with forward swept guillon.
Excellent bright finished steel scabbard with one loose hanging ring and no dents.
It comes with its genuine Dutch M 1855 Jaeger officers sword knot with a green cord and an orange core in an Excellent condition showing some usual wear.
This sword is made around 1900. In 1913 the Regiments Grenadiers and Jagers were split. After 1913 the blades were marked: Regiment Jagers or Regiment Grenadiers.
