Early Dutch Grenadier Guard Officers sword M 1852 (JP84-131)
"Nederlandse Grenadier Officiers sabel M 1852" / Dutch Grenadier Guard officers sword M 1852. Excellent heavy curved fullered bright blade. Blade spine is marked REGIMENT GRENADIERS EN JAGERS. Left side of the blade is marked with the Dutch proof mark: YZERHOUWER in a scroll. Beautiful large and massive gilt brass lion head pommel. Gilt brass single hand guard with King Willem III monogram under a crown in silver. Gilt brass crossguard with straight guillon and achorn final. Two diamant shaped lanquets. Right side with flaming bomb in silver. Excellent ray skin grip with brass wire winding. Beautiful Berlin silver scabbard with a single loose hanging rings and no serieus dents, only some user spurs.
Total length: 100 cm. Width at the ricasso 3.1 cm.
This is the most beautiful Dutch designed Officer's sword and these old early models are very scarce.
This sword is made around 1880. In 1913 the Regiments Grenadiers and Jagers were split. After 1913 the blades were marked: Regiment Jagers or Regiment Grenadiers.
