"Gemeente Politie sabel, rond 1900". / Dutch municipal police short sword around 1900. Serial number: 638 Matching! on crossguard. Excellent ++ straight bright finished plain blade. Very good massive casted Berlin-Silver grip with 3 ribs and knucklebow showing wear. Grip is marked 717. Very good crossguard with swept forwards quillon with acorn finial. Very good typical Dutch style black leather scabbard. All stitches intact and internal brass chape with ball tip. Berlin -Silver top mount with matching serial number, oval frog stud and locking device.
Dutch Municipal Police officer swords were used from 1850 - 1950. This is a later model with an added knucklebow.
