No.4 Very good bright straight Palasch type T- form blade with Dutch retailers name and residence; FRANS POUWELS- s'GRAVENHAGE on the blade spine. There are a few small patches with very light pitting to the blade. Very heavy bright polished metal hilt with flower motives engraved pierced bowl guard. Detachable hilt with hard black rubber grip. Wire winding is incomplete. Excellent blued metal scabbard with one loose hanging ring and no dents.
Very rare impressive heavy Dutch officers sword. It has the heavy characteristics of a trooper sword, but still it is an officers sword! Experimental sword, not many were ever made! Possible one of the hardest to find Dutch swords. Used by mounted artillery officers but also by artillery train officers.
Total length 96 cm. Blade length ca. 80 cm. Blade width, measured at the ricasso, 2.1 cm.
