This model was made and used for a very short time only. It was already replaced in 1912 by the adoption of the M 1912 standard Lion head pommel officers sword (wandelsabel) for all Dutch officers of any rank. This has an unusual Dutch inspection marking. It learned this sword was a loaner. Officers and Senior NCO's who could not effort an own sword could loan/hire it from the Regiment at special occasions.
A very early example and a beautiful one!. This one was made around 1896.
Made by a rare maker for Dutch swords. Also, not plated as usual, but bright polished steel and the special markings, Patent No. and a Dutch inspection marking, are making this a very interesting sword.!
